I am currently in the last year of my Masters of Occupational Therapy program at Shenandoah University. I am originally from Bedford, Virginia and moved to Winchester, Virginia to earn my bachelor’s degree in psychology with a minor in biology from Shenandoah University in 2019.  I have a love for working with pediatrics and I hope to someday work as a pediatric occupational therapist after my graduation in December of 2021! Outside of school I enjoy traveling, playing tennis, and spending time with friends and family. I look forward to my experience at Shenandoah SOUNDstart and can’t wait to learn and grow here!

   January 2020- April 2020

I am currently a second-year occupational therapy student at Sacred Heart University’s Masters in Occupational Therapy program located in Fairfield, Connecticut. I am originally from Fredericksburg, VA, and I earned my bachelor’s degree in Human Development with a minor in Psychology in the Spring of 2018 from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. Upon completion of my Level II fieldwork and graduation in May of 2020, I will sit for my board certification exam and pursue a career as a pediatric occupational therapist. Working in pediatrics is where my true passion lies, and I can’t think of a better way to occupy my own time!

Ashley Phillips, Undergraduate Student

Shenandoah University

I have spent the past two months here at Shenandoah SOUNDstart, LCC for my level 2 fieldwork and have absolutely loved it. I went to University of Mary Washington for Psychology before I began my OTA journey at St. Catherine University. As an OTA student we go through two fieldwork level 2’s. For my first one I got put here at Shenandoah SOUNDstart and I truly from the bottom of my heart could not have asked for a better team to work with. Carrie, the owner, is so kind to everyone and keeps the clinic so positive. Everyday I walked in and was greeted with a smile. My supervisor Allysa, an occupational therapist here, was absolutely wonderful and taught me so much through this experience. Not only was she the greatest supervisor, she is also so wonderful with the children she works with. She is gentle and patient with them and always coming up with fun activities. The receptionist’s, OT’S, and speech language pathologist’s were wonderful as well.

During my free time I enjoy relaxing, spending time with my friends, going out to eat, and doing fun activities. I love helping people, so any chance I get to donate or give back to the community I take advantage of. I have a passion for helping people and would love to go into mental health occupational therapy when I graduate! Thank you Shenandoah SOUNDstart, LLC for this lovely experience.

I am 2015 Courtland High school graduate from Fredericksburg, Va. I am currently in my last semester of my undergraduate career at Shenandoah University. I will graduate in May 2019 with double bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science and Psychology. My career goal is to become an Occupational Therapist and work with pediatrics. In my free time I like to spend time with my fiancé, family and friends and go on fun adventures.
